English Course
Standard Programs
The standard English language programs enable students to complete a full course over the duration of an academic semester. Offered by the International Language Center, these courses emphasize an integrated development of the four core language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The programs are structured across three levels:
– ESTA 1 (equivalent to IELTS Band 4)
– ESTA 2 (equivalent to IELTS Band 5)
– ESTA 3 (equivalent to IELTS Band 6)
These courses are developed in line with the university’s strategic goals to foster international communication and collaboration with leading global universities and research institutions.
Participants must attend classes at the scheduled times. Each course comprises 16 sessions, with each session lasting 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Teacher Training Programs
These specialized programs encompass training for English language instructors and IELTS preparation course instructors. The general English teacher training covers effective methodologies for teaching language skills, classroom management, and assessment techniques. The IELTS teacher training includes instruction on IELTS-specific skills, as well as test administration and scoring procedures.

English Language Assessments
Placement Assessment
The placement assessment is conducted online through the secure TESTA platform, in full compliance with CEFR and ESTA standards. This allows students to complete the test remotely and receive results promptly without visiting the center.
Ongoing Assessments
Progress is evaluated through regular assessments during the semester. A mid-term skills assessment is held in the seventh session of each term. Speaking proficiency is assessed via individual interviews, which are fully recorded. Scoring allocation is as follows: mid-term examination (36 points), final examination (50 points), and active class participation (14 points).
ESTA Proficiency Examination
The ESTA is a comprehensive English proficiency examination that evaluates all four language skills. It is held once per academic season at the Amirkabir International Language Center.
Exam Description
The examination consists of written and oral sections. The written component assesses listening, reading, and writing skills and lasts approximately three hours. The speaking assessment is conducted in person.
